Absolutely loved Pots and Pans cottage – great host, beautiful cottage and lovely surroundings. Uppermill is a great base to explore the Pennines. Fantastic for dogs too! Thank you to Cliff, we hope to return in the future.

Airbnb – December 2023

We absolutely loved Pots & Pans Cottage and the rhubarb pie left for us was a lovely touch. The cottage is a good size and easily accommodated our grown-up family of four, and was the cosiest and best equipped we’ve ever stayed in and was wonderfully peaceful, and the warmth and care Cliff the owner has taken with it really shines through. Uppermill is such a lovely area too. Cliff is a great host for whom nothing was too much trouble and we truly hope to stay again. Beautiful cottage in a beautiful area. Fabulous host and a wonderful experience. Highly recommended. If we could give it six stars, we would!

Google – November 2023

Lovely , cozy cottage set in a very peaceful, quiet location. Pictures and description accurately reflect the cottage. Comfortable beds and well appointed kitchen. Cliff was very responsive and even provided extra logs for the (fabulous) log burner, which was much appreciated during the cold week we stayed at the cottage. The only difficulty was the slippery paths to the cottage (due to snow, ice and leaves) and the very steep stair case (these are mentioned in the description). It may not be suitable for the less steady on their feet. Fabulous, comfortable stay, and we may be back!

Airbnb – November 2023

Beautiful cottage, very cosy and host was very friendly and helpful. Would love to stay again!

Airbnb – August 2023

We had a lovely week-long stay at Pots & Pans Cottage. Cliff was friendly, helpful and responsive from the moment we booked. A wealth of information about the cottage and the local area was provided which was very useful.
The cottage is fab, it has every amenity you could want and more, and is cosy and very well kept. Having a cot set up for our baby was no trouble and our dog was equally welcome and catered for with bowls, bedding etc.
The location is also great, a short stroll from the village and an equally easy walk up to the surrounding countryside.
Overall, I would highly recommend Cliff’s place and I’m sure we’ll be back!

Airbnb – July 2023

Wow! What a lovely break we had – Cliffs cottage is just lovely. Spotlessly clean, the comfiest bed and every home comfort you can imagine.
Uppermill is so lovely – with a fab bakery greengrocer butcher nice pubs and lovely walks.
We can’t wait to go back thank you for having us

Airbnb – February 2023

As we walked in the front door, it was immediately welcoming and had a homely feel. Amazing attention to detail in all the rooms. Comfortable bed. Very secluded and peaceful with wonderful wildlife to watch. The kitchen was well equipped. I would highly recommend this property and look forward to re booking again.

Airbnb – February 203

we loved Pots and Pans cottage, the most professional Airbnb, we have stayed at, it’s obvious the owner cares about the property and their guests, couldn’t recommend highly enough, we will definitely be returning, Thanks Cliff

Airbnb – February 2023

Cliff’s a great host – very responsive and arranged for the cottage to be toddler friendly for us with stair gate, travel cot and high chair. The cottage is beautiful and we loved all the features from their travels and the stunning kitchen floor tiles. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need and the honesty wine rack was a lovely touch for our first night before we’d done a shop! Bedrooms very comfortable and cosy. The location is a great base to explore Saddleworth and the surrounding areas from. Lots in walking distance. We will definitely be keen to return again.

Airbnb January 2023

I just can’t find anything wrong with this place. If you are looking for a very cosy cottage with everything you can possibly need in a quiet and peaceful environment, pots and pans is for you. Just can’t wait to come back.

Airbnb – January 2023

My wife and I had a wonderful short stay at Pots and Pans Cottage. We both loved how comfortable and cosy it was, especially with the log burner lit on an evening. We went to relax and chill out and this was the perfect place. Everything you can imagine is there to make your stay easy and comfortable. It’s so quiet and peaceful. Its not far into Uppermill, although a little hilly, and you can find plenty of lovely places to eat and drink. Even though the weather was quite changeable when were there we had a wonderful stay.

Pots&Pans Cottage is superbly equipped and Cliff and his family have thought of absolutely everything, including nice touches like fresh flowers when we arrived. Cliff also updated us with useful information during our stay. The cottage has a really quaint location and everything in Uppermill is within walking distance. We had a great holiday and would unhesitatingly recommend the cottage.

Just had our second stay at Pots and Pans cottage, it really is a perfect cottage in a perfect location. Thank you!

Pots & Pans Cottage Review Page – February 2023

We had the pleasure is staying at Pots & Pans for an extended stay of more than 2 weeks. We absolutely loved the place. So warm, so cosy, quiet, peaceful. It’s location is wonderful as it feels like being in the middle of nowhere and yet the lovely village of Uppermill is a few minutes walk away. The cottage really does have everything you need, it is so well equipped especially the kitchen. The beds are very comfy, bathrooms fine and downstairs is the really cosy living room. We ended up with a fairly hefty snow fall a couple of days after we arrived but coped perfectly well once we had stocked up on food and drink and the lovely Aga stove made the cottage really warm as we watched the snow blanket the moors beyond the house. The honesty wine bar is also a lovely touch. If you like to walk then it’s definitely the place for you. We walked most days, mostly setting out straight from the cottage, walking to Pots & Pans, Diggle, Dovestones, Delph and beyond. Cliff is a great communicator, answering any queries quickly and dealing with any minor problems super efficiently, aided by the very helpful and friendly Kinga. We loved it so much we have already booked a return visit.

TripAdvisor March 2023

Unfortunately I was unable to visit due to illness but our friends went as planned and thoroughly enjoyed the cottage. Despite having flu himself, Cliff was always available online for any queries. Such a lovely person. Thank you

January 2023 – Airbnb

A clean, comfortable, quirky weavers cottage. It was a lovely home to stay in.

Airbnb November 2022

Excellent host and accommodation. Really exceeded our expectations. Would highly recommend.

AirBnB – September 2022

A wonderful old cottage in a lovely quiet location it was fitted out with everything-and more -that you could need. Including bird food in jars to replenish the bird feeders in the garden. The kitchen was incredibly equipped with a huge cooking range and coffee machine amongst other equipment. Plus a range of teas and coffees and oils and spices. Huge array of pots and pans -no pun intended. The lounge was comfortable and cosy with the TV having Netflix and Amazon Prime. In the bedrooms the beds were incredibly comfortable . The Wi-Fi was also extremely efficient Cliff has produced a very professional brochure on the cottage and the attractions nearby for reading in the cottage.Every thing that is described is as it actually is. So much information on the area from where to eat and drink to where to take dogs for walks. Uppermill itself is great little place and people very friendly. We all agreed -two parents and two adult daughters (and one small dog ) that this was best holiday cottage we’d stayed in and the information provided by Cliff ensured that the 4 nights we stayed there were really enjoyable. Definitely a home from home and am sure we’ll be back. Thanks Cliff

Trip Advisor August 2022

Wow, what a place. This is the cutest Cottage I have ever stayed in. From the booking experience to arrival was a breeze. You walk in and the kitchen takes your breath away. It reminds me of a Farmhouse kitchen which I love. My family and I played games at the table for hours. It is one of the coziest places you will ever find. Thanks Cliff, Jane &family. Hopefully we will get to return to this little slice of heaven again.

Trip Advisor May 2022

Excellent cottage with all the home comforts. Great base for walking. My car was parked up until it was time to leave.

Airbnb – July 2022

Amazing little cottage, very clean and great value for money. Cliff’s communication was great can’t recommend this place enough!

Airbnb – July 2022

Pots and pans cottage was just the best cottage I’ve ever stayed in – comfortable, charming and had everything and more you could need – the hosts have literally thought of it all! The location was fabulous – close to some lovey bars, restaurants and shops and then gorgeous walks in every direction. Would definitely love to return and would recommend it whole heartedly to all!

What a beautiful cottage in a beautiful location! We had everything we needed and more.

Cliff is a fantastic host checking we were happy before, during and after our stay.

After walking in the beautiful hills and eating at local restaurants we slept very well in the comfy beds.

I would definitely recommend this property.

A beautiful welcoming cottage, so inviting, clean and well presented. Cliff you have thought of everything. Thank you so much for allowing us to spend some wonderful quality time in your home. looking forward to visiting again soon.

Facebook – May 2022

Pots & Pans Cottage is an idyllic rural hideaway in Upper Mill. The cottage is unbelievably beautiful and well-appointed. The coffee machine was a particular bonus, together with the honesty wine bar – much needed as the designated driver at the end of a wedding! The bedrooms are surprisingly spacious for a Saddleworth cottage. We stayed with my fit and active 83-year-old Father – the stairs were a little steep, however he negotiated them well walking backwards, and we had been well forewarned in the description of the cottage. The final approach road to the cottage is very pot-holed and needs to be approached at very slow speed to save your car’s suspension, but again, we were well fore-warned. The very detailed and accurate instructions for finding the cottage were gratefully received. Clive is a lovely host – very professional and quick to respond to messages. The communication prior to our visit was faultless – all instructions very clear and exactly what we needed. I would not hesitate to recommend Clive’s property for a romantic getaway to explore a beautiful part of the UK.

Airbnb – May 2022

Really lovely place to stay! Warm, welcoming and clean. We have never stayed at such a well equipped kitchen! Perfectly situated to explore the village and moors. We hope to return soon! Thank you Cliff for all your information and being a great host!

Airbnb – April 2022

Beautiful location with so many scenic walks nearby. Cosy cottage with everything you could need, fabulous kitchen for cooking and pretty little garden. Host is great and the house is spotless.

Airbnb – April 2022

Cliff’s cottage is perfectly placed for exploring the moors and the delights of the Saddleworth villages. Easy to leave the car for a few days and explore on foot. It’s so well equipped and comfortable, so much thought and attention to detail has gone into setting it up as an easy, relaxing holiday cottage. Thank you.

Airbnb – April 2022

The Pots and Pans cottage was just a gem. We felt very at home and they had really thought of everything you might need while staying there. I would recommend arriving before dark for the best check-in experience. There’s an issue they’re trying to resolve with one of the shower units tripping the electrical breaker when on high heat and water pressure. It really wasn’t a problem for us, but it could be if you want to take long, very hot showers. Other than that, the place was gloriously quiet with beautiful bird songs in the morning and the walk to the main street of Uppermill was very convenient with tons of shops and restaurants there. We would definitely stay again!

Airbnb – April 2022

Pots & Pans Cottage was perfect for us (family with two pre-teen kids). It is walking distance to hills and streams, as well as cafes, shops and playgrounds. A really well-appointed cottage it was exceptionally cosy – a real haven from the February weather! We liked it so much we have already booked to return!

Airbnb – February 2022

Pots & Pans in Uppermill was one of the best holiday cottages we have used , & we holiday in the UK every 6 months. We parked the car on arrival on Sunday , & did not use it until we left the following Sunday. Cliff messaged on the 1st evening to make sure everything was OK , & would always reply very quickly if we had any questions. Pots & Pans is very homely , comfortable & clean , & it had everything we needed , especially in the kitchen . The lounge has a very comfy sofa & 2 easy chairs , & it was great to relax & watch the wildlife visit the bird feeder. The 2 bedrooms are roomy , with very comfortable beds . The shower in the main bathroom is very good , & wish we had a similar one at home. We spent about 4-5 hours a day exploring the area & village (small town?) on our dog walks , & there are a variety of walks available right from our doorstep. Our favourites were the climb up Pots & Pans hill , the walk to, around & back from Dove Stone reservoir. If we felt less energetic we could walk the Pennine Bridleway which is a few minutes walk from the cottage, & then take a slight detour onto the canal path through Uppermill . After a long day walking , it was a great feeling to get back to the cottage & get the wood burner going for the evening, relaxing in the warmth & enjoying a beer or glass of wine. The “honesty” wine rack was a nice touch. There are lots of dog friendly cafes & pubs , which offer good home cooked food , & our favourite was the Weaver & Wild coffee house . Most shops allow dogs in. All in all , it was a wonderful week away , & we will definitely recommend it to family & friends. We will book again in the future , but there are other areas in the UK that we want to experience first. The one thing to note is that it is a steep road up Shaw Lane to the cottage , but it certainly gets the heart rate up 🙂 Thanks Cliff & his team , including Kinga , who was very helpful.

Airbnb March 2022

Fabulous cottage. Highly recommended. Cliff was great to deal with and very accommodating. Lovely location. Five mins from the village. Fully equipped. Full of character. Very clean. Try grandpa greens, lime kiln cafe, weaver & wilde, saints, kobe, waggon inn, sorello and definitely muse. Poor service at abaco. Thankyou cliff & team.

Nice well run air BnB. Recommended

Google – February 2022

This cosy cottage is perfect for a romantic break or a trip with a couple of friends. The four of us had a great time playing board games by the fire in the living room after a walk along the canal and in the surrounding hills. The Kitchen is really well stocked and had everything we needed. And the beds were very comfy! This cottage has charm and a unique personality. Uppermill is a cool village with lots of great spots for eating and drinking. We had a nice meal at The Waggon Inn. Thank you for having us!

Airbnb- February 2022

Really enjoyed our stay cottage beautiful area wonderful cliff as thought of everything loved the idea he had put in when summer is here they are fresh herbs how thoughtful!

Airbnb February 2022

Brilliant and atmospheric, rustic accommodation. Well kept and well run. Recommended! 😁

Airbnb – January 2022

Fab , cosy little cottage , loads of walks straight out of front door , bustling town full of cafes and pubs, great for 2 couples with 2 double rooms and 2 Bathrooms. Excellent communication from a very ‘Super’ host ! Outdoor Access and indoor stairs would be tricky if you didn’t have good mobility due to nature of the area and being an old cottage.

Airbnb – January 2022

We have just returned home from a lovely week away at Pots and Pans Cottage.

We needed somewhere local to stay whilst we had work done at home.

Cliff really does cater for everything at the cottage so was just like a home from home stay.

We cooked, baked, had games nights and chilled in front of the fire watching Netflix!

And dogs enjoyed the new walks….

A massive 5 stars from us!

Facebook – July 2022

Absolutely perfect! Cliff has thought of everything….. So clean and welcoming..

Airbnb – January 2022

Cliff’s cottage is wonderful. The location is perfect, and every detail has been thought of in the cottage. We would recommend 100%

Airbnb January 2022

We were lucky enough to book a 5 nights stay here over Christmas, when we came to spend time with our families who live in close vicinity. Being originally from Saddleworth, I felt very fortunate to have found such a beautiful place to stay, especially given that we could bring our dog with us too (lots of lovely doggy walks close by, including a wonderful quiet bridle path).

The place upon arrival was spotlessly clean, and if you are not a doggy person you would not think that this place had accommodated dogs in the past – there was absolutely no trace of previous furry friends staying here! (I am aware some people think cottages that accommodate dogs can be somewhat substandard at times, compared to cottages that don’t – rest assured this cottage is furnished and cleaned to a high standard).

The location is fantastic, situated just on the outskirts of Uppermill in a lovely rural area. Walking into Uppermill took a short 5 minute downhill stroll, and the village has some fabulous shops, pubs and restaurants alongside many scenic walks including along the canal. Pots and Pans Cottage is exceptionally well equipped, with a fabulously large cosy rustic kitchen including a superb range cooker. Throughout, the cottage is furnished with a beautiful eclectic mix of artifacts and pictures clearly representing the owners love of travelling. We considered it also very quirky too, given it is such an old building with lots of history and the layout is such too.

As it was Christmas, the cottage was also decorated to a very high standard for the festive season; even including a real Christmas tree in the lounge. The lounge warm and cosy, with a wonderful log burner for guests to use. It was also nice to arrive to find milk, tea, coffee etc left for us, as well as a wonderful selection of wines to drink (honesty box provided). There was a great coffee machine provided too. Communication between host and ourselves was exceptional, with us even receiving a Christmas card posted to us from them in France! How thoughtful. There is an amazing Guest Information book in the cottage, that explains everything in detail and has ideas on things to do, places to visit etc. Nothing was missed out. We could not have asked for more, and overall were delighted with our stay.

There was just one minor thing that we have since raised with the host after we left and that was in light of there being very little wardrobe space – for most, this would not be an issue as there are drawers to put clothing in. But, given it was the festive season we had brought clothes such as party dresses etc that needed hanging up. This is something we now feel the host will act on, as he is keen for ways of improving the cottage all the time to enable future guests to have the best stay they can.

Overall, we would not hesitate to return again and would highly recommend. You won’t be disappointed. 5*

TripAdvisor January 2022

A stunning cottage. You really feel a sense of history staying here and the owners have furnished and decorated it all in keeping with its 18th century roots. The sofas are very comfy as is the main bed. Its a quirky and cosy cottage with beautiful windows, thick stone walls and thoughtful detail. Everything is well organised and the communication is great – there are notes around the house to help. Overall you will have a fabulous stay in the lovely Uppermill if you stay here.

Airbnb – December 2021

We had a fabulous time at Pots and Pans Cottage and it’s up there with the best we’ve ever stayed in. It’s so warm and cosy with everything you could possibly need for a very comfortable stay. It snowed while we were there which added to the magical feel of the cottage. Cliff very kindly checked that we were okay and sent details of the local log supplier in case we ran out. We can’t wait to return in the summer so that we can explore the area a bit more.

Airbnb – December 2021

For us better than we ever expected with some lovely extra touches . Perfect location for us. Lovely cottage very comfortable with lovely luxurious feel Many thanks.

Airbnb December 2021

We loved our stay at Pots and Pans. The cottage is very cute and had all we needed. The honesty wine rack we especially enjoyed! Just a short walk down a pretty steep hill into Uppermill. Cliff gave us plenty of information about the cottage and the local area.

Airbnb – December 2021

We had a fabulous stay at Pots & Pans Cottage for a long weekend visiting friends. The location was perfect, tucked away and quiet but only a few minutes walk into Uppermill. Cliff provided everything we needed and more, the kitchen is fully stocked, there’s a washer & dryer which was so handy to have with a small baby. The log burner and rangemaster oven were particularly appreciated now the weather has turned cold. We are already looking forward to our next visit 🙂

Airbnb November 2021

There is nothing I could say that would make justice to Cliff’s lovely cottage. It’s the perfect combination between being next to the nature but a walk away from all the local pubs! The cottage is very homely and welcoming. We instantly felt like home. I would highly recommend to anyone in need of a calm getaway and best of all it’s just next to all the amazing hikes in the Peak District. Will definitely come again!

Airbnb – November 2021

Fabulous cottage, we had a very cosy and comfortable stay, perfectly located for walking straight from the door yet also really close to everything Uppermill and surrounding villages have to offer. Thoroughly recommend.

Facebook – October 2021

This is indeed a charming and well equipped cottage, in a quiet location. Towels and bedding were wonderful, and the village of Uppermill a short walk away.

Airbnb – October 2021

The cottage is lovely, very clean and comfortable, everything you could ask for when booking a holiday. Cliff has been very helpful throughout. The area has so many walks from the cottage but be warned it is steep up to the Pots and Pans Monument although it is worth the view at the top! In comparison, it is an easy, lovely walk along the canal between Uppermill and Diggle. There is a lot of choice for food within the cafes. restaurants and pubs in Uppermill. You certainly wouldn’t starve if you choose not to cook at the cottage, although the kitchen is so well equipped, cooking there was a pleasure.

Airbnb – October 2021

Would recommend this cosy cottage to anyone! Ideal spot for a peaceful weekend.

Google – October 2021

We have fallen in love with Pots & Pans Cottage and can’t wait to return. It is clearly well-loved by the hosts and full of warmth and character. Great country and canal walks nearby and an easy walk down to pubs & restaurants. Excellent value for money and great communication from the host throughout.

Trip Advisor – October 2021

Lovely well equipped cottage in a great location within easy reach of amenities, owners were very informative and easy to deal with. Cottage itself was lovely and very quirky, not easiest to find but map and directions supplied by owner were spot on, road leading to cottage is a bit scary but if you take your time it is not a problem, would definitely recommend.

Tripadvisor – September 2021

A fantastic find. Not only a beautiful cottage and a great location, it was the thoughtful welcome gestures that really made it for me. Local Milk, ethical toiletries. I won’t give all of them away! We weren’t sure what to expect as the cottage is dog friendly (we don’t have a dog) and you would never have known, not a trace. Literally a home from home. Amazing, will definitely visit again.

Airbnb – September 2021

This is a beautifully appointed cottage in a great location – very quiet indeed, but within easy walking distance of the cafes, pubs etc in Uppermill and a great base for exploring the wider area. Local walks such as along the canal and at Dovestone reservoir are great, and it is not far to really enjoyable places to visit such as Saltaire and Halifax. The cottage had everything we needed and was a delight to stay in.

Trip Advisor – September 2021

Beautiful setting for a holiday cottage, quiet and peaceful location surrounded by woodland. Great pub’s and cafés locally. Wonderful walks and countryside to enjoy

Google – September 2021

A great cosy little cottage with everything you need and very clean.

Airbnb – September 2021

A lovely homely cottage in a great area with lots of good cafes, shops and restaurants to enjoy in walking distance. A home away from home – thank you!

Airbnb – September 2021

The cottage is a great place to stay in a truely beautiful part of the England. It was easy both to relax and hang out together here and easy to walk out the door and off into stunning countryside in no time at all. We did some of both. Cliff seems to have thought of everything. Info is clear, lots of attention paid to details in all kinds of ways. It wasn’t possible to run a bath when we stayed, but the shower was hot, good pressure and Cliff was responsive in addressing it. Would definitely recommend and hope to return again.

Airbnb – August 2021

Cliff was a fantastic host: he provided excellent pre-trip information, was incredibly responsive to all our questions, and made us feel most welcome. The cottage is beautiful, extremely well-equipped, and in a great location. We’d definitely stay at Pots & Pans again, thanks Cliff for a great stay!

Airbnb – August 2021

Great value, amazing location and an amazing space. Nice touches, very homely and well stocked, we had a fabulous time. No complaints.

Airbnb – July 2021

So close to Uppermill centre and yet peacefully tucked away within walking distance of the town centre. Cliff (the owner) has thought of everything to provide a perfect base from which to explore and the cottage exudes a warm welcome from the outset. I loved the wood burning stove in the lounge. Even bottles of wine with an honesty box should you not bring your own. The latest coffee maker and large retro fridge. The bonus of the cottage garden on a sunny day is a delight . Although visiting an elderly friend, I particularly enjoyed walking the canal paths along the Huddersfield canal and such a wide choice of fun eating places and unique little shops in Uppermill so full of character. What not to like enjoying breakfast outside on a summer day overlooking the canal and a cosy cottage to return to each day. My thanks and appreciation to Cliff the owner for a great stay. I look forward to returning.

Trip Advisor – July 2021

Brilliant place to stay, lovely and welcoming, very clean and Cliff was a lovely host

Airbnb – July 2021

Just back from a wonderful stay at Pots and Pans cottage. The location is fantastic, my first visit to uppermill and I was impressed with the choice of bars, cafes and restaurants. The cottage itself was full of everything you need including a really helpful brochure explaining all about the cottage and the local area. Would love to come back again.

Airbnb – June 2021

Perfect place to explore the beauty of the moors. Cliff is an exemplary host and very attentive – ensuring that we were looked after every step of the way. Instructions throughout – from parking to using the shower – are very clear and exact. This cottage is like a fairytale house, my daughter declared. And indeed it is! My partner agreed when he found the wide range of wine from the honesty bar. The house is full of thoughtful touches and spotlessly clean. Sadly, we didn’t get to enjoy all that was on offer as we were here to see my Mum after a long absence due to Covid – so we only slept and breakfasted. However the cottage is so lovely that my family insist we return to take full advantage of the house and area – we’ll be back! Huge thanks to Cliff😀

Airbnb – June 2021

Quirky cottage, very peaceful and relaxing. So close to nature and lovely village shops and dog friendly cafes. A lovely place to relax and unwind.

Airbnb – May 2021

We had a lovely time in this beautiful well equipped cottage. A great base to explore Saddleworth from.

Trip Advisor – May 2021

We had a wonderful stay at pots and pans cottage, the owner was very communicative and the information pack we received before we arrived was very helpful and thorough. Location was great, close to the village, friendly neighbours and very peaceful and quiet. The cottage itself had great amenities and appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as the pint of milk on arrival, the honesty wine rack, books and board games and the helpful notes around around the cottage making everything easy to use. Great coffee machine too! We would definitely stay again, thank you for hosting us!

Airbnb – May 2021

We had a fantastic little getaway to Pots & Pans Cottage! It’s absolutely beautiful in the cottage, and everything you could wish for is provided, from extra shampoo (which I forgot to bring so was definitely appreciated!), to a local pint of milk delivered upon arrival, to plenty of books to help kick back and relax. Cliff is very responsive and was proactive in communicating to make sure everything was going well. He has also put together an extensive & useful guide book to the cottage which answered all the questions I would’ve had, and gave some tips for where to go in the town for a bite to eat or for a dog walk. Really one of the best Airbnb experiences I’ve had, and if I’m in the area again I’ll definitely return.

★★★★★ Airbnb April 2021

We have just returned from a couple of nights at Pots and Pans. We had a fantastic stay at this gorgeous cottage. The cottage is tucked away in a hamlet of weavers cottages and is full of charm and character. There is a lovely wood burner if the evenings are chilly and a little garden to sit in after a day of walking or sightseeing. We made use of both. Its a pleasant stroll into town where you can buy everything you need for making meals on the range oven. We will definitely return.

Airbnb – April 2021

Cliff’s cottage was a wonderful place to stay, relax and enjoy the area. It had everything we needed and was very clean. The cottage also included thoughtful touches such as milk from the local dairy and an honesty wine rack! Cliff was a great host, answered all our queries promptly and was very helpful in telling us the latest COVID-19 restrictions for the area. The village was a great place to explore, with pretty much everything you could need including a deli, grocers, butcher, bakery and post office. Would recommend visiting the Cake kitchen in the high street!! Thank you Cliff, we really enjoyed our time and would definitely stay there again!!

Airbnb – October 2020

Just returned from a wonderful weekend break at pots and pans cottage. The place was clean, fresh and cosy. Easy and well written instructions to find the cottage and how everything works. Clear and quick communication from Cliff. Great amenities and lots of thoughtful little touches. We would recommend this place to anybody and also suggest a meal at the Waggon Inn. Thanks to Cliff & Family for helping us celebrate our anniversary.

Airbnb – October 2020

Fantastic cottage with everything we needed. It was very quiet and peaceful with lovely walks in the area. Comfortable rooms and we loved the fire to return to after a day of hiking. Cliff is an excellent host, great communication and very accommodating particularly with the updating Covid situation. I highly recommend this cottage and will certainly plan a return visit!

Airbnb – October 2020

Trip Advisor – September 2020

Just perfect; an interesting property in a great location, peaceful with both town and countryside on the doorstep, and a thoughtful and friendly host with great communication. Airbnb should always be like this.

Airbnb – September 2020

Great experience, great stay, loved the little touches, would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Airbnb – September 2020

A great cottage in a secluded location. Loads of useful information to help you get to know the cottage and the area. Cosy, warm, clean and charming.

Airbnb – September 2020

Pots & Pans Cottage is the perfect home from home. From the moment we arrived we felt cosy and relaxed. The cottage is gorgeous with lovely amenities such as the gas stove in the kitchen and the aga wood burner in the lounge. Tucked out of the way, up a private track, it is silent at night time but just a 10 minute stroll down the hill brings you to the middle of the bustling village of Saddleworth. A wonderful stay – we will certainly be back in the future! Thanks so much Cliff and Family!

Airbnb – September 2020

What a wonderful place to stay. Everything has been thought of as to what you might need during your stay. The notes around the home ensure you know where to find everything. The kitchen is fully equipped to cook any meal. The comprehensive booklet lets you know where to eat, places to visit and anything linked to the cottage itself.

Airbnb – August 2020

We booked Pots and Pans based on availability (a tad last minute) and the good reviews and couldn’t have been happier. Such lovely touches like the honesty box for a range of fantastic wine, fresh Saddleworth milk in the fridge – a welcome sight for my tea after our 2 hour drive down! Loved the coffee machine, plenty of fresh towels, great master and second bedroom – our 9 year old loved the room and the en suite! Even bird food for guests to fill up the feeders and watch the squirrels squabble and play. The parking is great, easy to leave the car and walk down and back from the high street, which has a good range of cafes, pubs and restaurants for all budgets. The location is great to explore Holmfirth and Oldham, both a short drive away. The cottage is homely, quirky, cosy – I could go on and on – we loved it! Thank you to owner Cliff who sent emails and a great e-guest pack ahead of the trip, very useful 👍 5 stars!!

Trip Advisor – August 2020

Lovely cottage in a great location with a short walk to the village of Uppermill in one direction and the open countryside of the Peak District In the other. We visited in the heat of the Summer and the venue provides a nice balance with having outside areas where you can sun yourself and the stone cottage which remains relatively cool in the heat. The cottage itself is fabulously well equipped and Cliff’s attention to detail makes everything really straightforward. The accommodation is cosy and full of character and it is a great place to get some peace and quiet. There is some lovely attention to detail such as an “honesty” wine rack and the ability to order quality local produce. Thoroughly enjoyed our break here.

Airbnb – August 2020

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at Pots and Pans. It’s the perfect place to stay if you want a private, secluded cottage for a complete chill, with all amenities. We like e it and so does our dog! A real treat to see all the various birds and squirrels in the cottage garden! We can’t wait to stay again – home from home but cosier and romantic! Thanks again Cliff 😃

Airbnb – February 2020

Really enjoyed my stay and highly recommend staying there.

Absolutely loved our stay at Pots and Pans cottage. Super location, beautiful and cosy and Cliffs information pack is beyond brilliant! Not a single detail is missed out and no questions need to be asked. My children also liked it and they could easily walk into Uppermill safely and a hike up pots and pans is a must. The wine rack is genius!

We will be returning!

Trip Advisor – February 2020

Excellent cottage with everything you need, would highly recommend.

Airbnb – February 2020

The cottage is in a quiet hamlet to the West of Uppermill, walking distance from both the High St and the surrounding hills. The cottage itself was spotless, with fabulous views and decorated beautifully with lots of nice little touches such as an Honesty Wine Rack etc. Cliff is also an excellent host who was communicative and helpful throughout. We’re looking forward to staying again!

Airbnb – January 2020

Just spent 2 days at Pots and Pans. A home away from home, a lovely tranquil cottage. Anyone visiting the area must stay here. Full of authentic country charm and bohemian flavour. Everything you could possibly need is available. It truly felt like we were stepping into another world-just what we needed.
We loved it that much we have already booked again!
Thank you Cliff for letting us stay!

Airbnb – December 2019

A gorgeous cottage for a break in Uppermill

Airbnb – Dec 2019

We stayed at this cottage on what was a very cold, at times damp, few days in December but were so cosy and warm inside, that we did not even light the fire, or we could have been too hot. It was wonderfully clean everywhere and an extremely well-equipped kitchen, which meant we were able to easily cook and enjoy homemade meals. Whilst the cottage had been decorated with a modern twist, it also still very much retains its character. With the directions, we managed to find the cottage easily in the dark, and whilst there is no parking outside the cottage itself, and a little walk up the concrete slabs to the front door, this too is all part of the character cottage which we loved, though would not recommend to anyone who is not stable on their feet, as it can get a little slippy when damp. It was wonderful arriving to find a decorated Christmas tree all lit up inside the cottage, adding that extra homely feeling.

The weather and time of year put us off going out on the hills but we did enjoy walking/geocaching around Dovestone Reservoir (a short drive away) and along the disused railway line walking distance from the cottage itself. However it was not a good idea taking the dog along there at the same time as the Uppermill Santa Run, which had at least 900 people running dressed as Santa, but that was my fault.

The owner always replied to messages quickly and willing to hear feedback (positive/negative, though think you will find it difficult to find any negative), and suggestions of what can be done to make our stay even better. Think what really helps is the owner actually uses the cottage as their own family home when they are in the UK, so if anything had not been working/issues, they would have experienced it themselves and hopefully rectified it before any guests notice. We fully enjoyed the homely feel of this cottage and look forward to returning next year when my husband’s football club (Leyton Orient) next play Oldham/Salford, being the main reason why we chose this area in the first place.

Trip Advisor – December 2019

A wonderful cosy cottage with a brilliant ambience. Perfect quiet location, yet near enough to the superb Uppermill village centre. Highly recommended.

Airbnb – December 2019

Another fabulous stay at Pots and Pans cottage. We’ve stayed here numerous times over the last few years and it gets better each time as Cliff makes improvements to what is a lovely cottage. Do visit the latest coffee shop to arrive in Uppermill – Weaver and Wilde – great coffee and very friendly.

Google – December 2019

A lovely little cottage in an excellent area. Cliff is a really great host who communicated everything we needed to know about our stay at the cottage in a prompt and helpful manner. The cottage is lovely, but do pay attention to the listing – there really is only space for one car, and the stairs inside are very narrow and steep.

Airbnb – December 2019

We had a wonderful weekend celebrating our friends 50th birthday and it was made even better due to the great accommodation. Pots & Pans cottage gave us everything we needed and more… clean, comfortable, well equipped, great location and an honesty bar, yes not only was fresh milk delivered for tea and coffee, there was a range of wines that you could drink and replace. Best stay ever. Hope to return. – Trip Advisor November 2019

Amazing cottage in a perfect location, ideal for a relaxed getaway. Cliff is a fantastic host and could not be more hospitable. 100% will be returning!

Airbnb – December 2019

We spent a lovely few days with our dog at Pots and Pans. The cottage was so cosy – a real home from home, and had everything we could possibly need. Location was great for exploring the Peaks, and also a short walk downhill into the village. The pint of fresh local milk in the fridge on arrival was a nice touch for two tea lovers! Thanks once again for a lovely stay! – Airbnb November 2019

A delightful, cosy cottage in a great location for plenty of walks.

Google – October 2019

Delightful cosy cottage tucked away in a quiet corner of Uppermill, with great access to the town and a number of walking routes.

Airbnb – October 2019

A great place to spend a walking holiday. The walk to the Pots and Pans is a must. If you navigate your way back via The Cross Keys it’s even better!

Airbnb – October 2019

We stayed at pots and Pans Cottage for a weekend break, 2 adults and Dolly our 7 month old German Wire haired pointer. It’s hard to decide who enjoyed the weekend more us or Dolly.

The cottage is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. We decided to have a walk up to pots and pans on the Saturday morning it was well worth it the views from the top were Stunning, we called in to the Cross Keys Pub (dog friendly) for a well earned drink afterwards. There are lots of dog friendly places to eat in the village we especially liked The Reclamation Room.

Cliff was very hospitable host who kept in touch to check everything was ok with our stay. We will definitely be booking again to stay in the near future .

Trip Advisor – October 2019

Great stay in Uppermill! Very cosy, comfortable, nicely decorated and spotlessly clean cottage. The garden is so beautiful too, although at this time of the year we could not fully appreciate it. We had a special welcome card waiting for us in the kitchen! And a good selection of wines to drink if we wanted too, provided we replaced the bottles (which we did): a very good system indeed. We really felt at home and wished we could have stayed a bit longer. Highly recommended!

Airbnb – October 2019

Lovely cottage that feels like home! Close to Uppermill which has lovely restaurants, cafes, pubs and walking. The hosts provide a helpful guide to the house and the village, which we used several times.

Airbnb – October 2019

Gorgeous cottage in a beautiful location. A very attentive owner who seems to have thought of everything. Very welcoming feel to the cottage with plenty of space. Amazing value for money. Would highly recommend. We stayed for 2 nights with 4 adults, a toddler and 2 dogs – there was plenty of room and it suited all our needs. Great for dogs, children & adults.

Airbnb – October 2019

This cottage is truly a home from home, the decor and little touches made all the difference. Lovely comfortable chairs and beds. Immaculately clean. Very well appointed, garden lovely. We will be back. Cliff was a great host!!

Airbnb – September 2019

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Pots & Pans Cottage and the lovely village of Uppermill in Saddleworth. Attending our nephew’s wedding has introduced us to this lovely part of England. The cottage was so quaint and well appointed. We adored all the artefacts around the cottage, which all helped to make you feel at home. Wouldn’t hesitate to come back to Uppermill in the future and would definitely stay at Pots & Pans Cottage – a little gem we found!! Definitely would recommend to family & friends Thanks again for sharing your cottage.

Airbnb – September 2019

Everything was perfect with our stay in Uppermill. The cottage was in an idyllic spot, well placed for the fantastic shops, cafes and cultural attractions of Uppermill, as well as the great hiking paths in the area. Cliff (the owner) was the perfect host even though he is based in Asia, and responded in a friendly and efficient manner in all our interactions. The cottage was perfect, very cosy, home from home and with everything and more that you’d want from a rural retreat.

Trip Advisor – August 2019

Excellent location, attentive owner, a welcome feel to the place, plenty of room, worth the cost. A great place for a relaxing get-away.

Trip Advisor – August 2019

A cool peaceful retreat in the summer and I imagine a warm cosy hideaway in the winter. Tea coffee and milk on arrival. Two bathrooms meant much privacy from our other guests with a relaxing lounge and well equipped and spacious kitchen/dining area.

Airbnb August 2019

Clean, tidy, warm. all the amenities you could possibly want in a holiday cottage. A little gem! We loved the little touches like the Wine Rack, & the info on water pressure etc. Makes it feel more like home. Once again, thanks for letting us stay at your lovely cottage. We had a great time & would definitely book again.

Airbnb August 2019

Excellent accommodation in a beautiful setting, rural yet 5 minutes walking to local shops, the cottage is adequately equipped for a family or couples, very cosy, our second stay and hopefully will not be our last.

Trip Advisor – August 2019

Cliff’s charming house, full of all necessary amenities is surrounded by beautiful landscapes. The house, perfect for my family and dog, was a delightful place to come to after a day sightseeing and a place I would readily revisit.

Airbnb August 2019

This was a fantastic little find. Great value for money. Thoughtful touches throughout the cottage and Cliff’s information was accurate, detailed and responsive. Thoroughly recommend staying at Pots and Pans. Uppermill is a fab little village with plenty of bars and restaurants, local walks (we went to Dovestone reservoir and Diggle). The cottage is situated up a private path. Space allocated for one car only but we found other parking spaces further down the road just a short walk away if you bring more than one car. The cottage itself is beautiful, well stocked kitchen (and honesty wine rack!) and a little treasure.

Airbnb August 2019

Pots and Pans cottage was the perfect spot for us! A short walk down to the village, near all the shops and pubs/restaurants. The directions were easy to manage, and the maps made finding it very simple! The cottage has a very authentic feel, and we found the history fascinating surrounding the area and the cottage! While authentic, it has modern touches as well, and we felt very much at home! We would definitely stay here in the future and would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a quiet, cozy stay!

Trip Advisor June 2019

This cottage is a lovely place to stay to explore the Saddleworth area. We have 2 little dogs and the walks were really good. The cottage is cosy and comfy, with lots of kitchen accessories if you want to cook meals. The parking spot is around the corner, but close enough for it not to be a problem. Cliff the owner has been in contact several times to make sure we had a good stay and we were provided with lots of information about the place. Vic next door is a very nice gentleman too. The cottage is a lot closer to the centre than we first thought but in a lovely quiet part of the village. Lots of dog-friendly places to visit if you want to eat out or go for a few drinks. We also liked the Reclamation café which is also very dog-friendly. Would definitely recommend Pots and pans Cottage, we hope to visit here again.

Trip Advisor June 2019

Pots and Pans Cottage is an amazing place to stay. The beds are wonderfully comfortable with a choice of duvets and pillows. The house is incredibly well equipped with everything you could possibly need including a dishwasher. It has a bathroom and an ensuite which was really convenient for us as we were two couples. It’s a short walk downhill to Uppermill which is a beautiful village with lots of places to eat and drink. Communication with Cliff was very good and prompt. We hope to return next year hopefully in the sunshine.

Airbnb June 2019

Cliff’s place is set in an idyllic part of Saddleworth, off the beaten track to be deafeningly quiet at night but only a mere 10 minute walk into town to the varied collection of bars/restaurants. The space is very well decorated and appointed with mod cons to make your stay a true home from home. Cliff responds within minutes of messages sent through the app unless of course it’s the middle of the night where he lives and works. The neighbours are very welcoming, two of them offering us advice while we were there. All in all a great place to be; we will definitely return, pending availability.

Airbnb June 2019

A cosy cottage in a beautiful location. Cliff was a friendly and helpful host. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Airbnb May 2019

We stayed at Pots and Pans Cottage for a long weekend for a wedding in the area. It was absolutely perfect for 3 of us one couple and a single but would have been just as perfect for two couples as the bedrooms were great sizes. Everything was spotless and there is so much character to this place, I felt like it was a home away from home! Beautiful country views and the village of Uppermill a 10 min walk away. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks Cliff!

Airbnb May 2019

Beautiful quiet cottage with a fabulous layout. Ideal for 4 adults. Wonderful features and a full range and farmhouse style to the kitchen. We loved it and will definitely return now we know it’s there. Big thanks to Cliff the owner for letting us stay and all his help, and directions. We shall return! 10 out 10!

Trip Advisor April 2019

We stayed at Pots and Pans for 1 week and absolutely loved it! a perfect home away from home with absolutely everything you could ever need. The info packs provided before arrival and also in the cottage on arrival are brilliant! Thank you so much. Weather for our stay was amazing so we got to sit on the lovely decking when on occasions the sheep would even make an appearance in the neighbours garden! We did wander down to Uppermill which is such a thriving village with plenty of shops, cafes, a park and canal walks to keep all ages happy. We can’t wait to return.

Trip Advisor, April 2019

Pots and Pans is a really great cottage, real home from home with lots of homely touches. Great bookcase and “honesty” wine rack. Lots of great walks from the cottage. We didn’t use the car until the day we left. Uppermill is great, lots of lovely independent shops. We were really lucky to see the Grenadier guards too. Hope to return soon.

Airbnb April 2019

Great location, just a short walk into the village of Uppermill, surrounded by impressive views of Saddleworth moor. The cottage is very cosy and nicely furnished, a lovely historic property with deep windowsills, wooden doors and beautiful flooring throughout. The kitchen is extremely well-stocked with utensils, crockery and coffee-making facilities. Everything about the kitchen is top notch, a great homely feel to it and all you could need to cook for yourself should you wish. The lounge is really cosy and comfortably furnished. Great little woodburner and the hardware shop on the High St stocks kindling and wood, should you need more. The small garden is lovely, with a shelter for sitting out in the (warmer) evenings! Cliff was very helpful via text and email, and it was a bonus to have a cottage that isn’t over-looked by the owner so is nice and private. The website and pre-arrival information are very helpful with lots of tips on places to shop and eat and information about the cottage and parking. Don’t use satnav to get all the way to the cottage, use the pre-arrival information for detailed directions from Uppermill High St as the post-code takes you elsewhere! Once found, it is really simple and only a few minutes drive from the centre of Uppermill.

Trip Advisor March 2019

Really enjoyed our stay at Cliff’s cottage. He was really quick to respond and very clear with info about check-in, where to park and extra details about the cottage and local area. The cottage is located in a cluster of cottages but very quiet. It’s also a close walk down to the local village which has lots of great places to eat and to buy bits and bobs. Particularly recommend the Reclamation Rooms for a coffee, brunch/lunch and the local bakery. The cottage itself is lovely really cosy with a log fire in the living room. Lots of lovely artwork on the walls and very comfortable throughout. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped with utensils to cook. The cottage is close by to lots of places to walk. We really enjoyed going up Pots and Pans despite the wind and walking round Doverstone Reservoir. Would recommend the cottage to anyone wanting to explore the Peak District!

Airbnb February 2019

Myself and my husband had a great stay at Pots & Pans & will be returning in April. Cliff has been great at providing lots of information about the area and the cottage. The cottage is well equipped and has some great pieces of decor. We’ve just returned from our stay and the temperature outside has not been so kind. However, the cottage had no issues with heating and we were very warm and cosy at the coldest time of year. Uppermill Village is a short walk from the cottage and the local Co-op there is open until 11 pm. The location is perfect for what we needed. Highly recommend a stay at Pots & Pans.

Very comfortable cottage, beautifully furnished, quiet yet a short walk to the village. We booked the cottage because it was very close to our daughter’s wedding venue, but would love to stay again when we are less busy (and the weather isn’t so wet!) to explore the lovely area around Uppermill.

Trip Advisor September 2018

Exceptionally well-presented property. We found it in pristine condition with all the facilities we could ever hope for. The rooms were all better than the description and we can thoroughly recommend it to anyone planning to visit Saddleworth or the surrounding area.

Trip Advisor September 2018

Pots and pans cottage is an excellent cottage and we were really pleased that we rented it. It is in a great location a short walk from Uppermill which has lots of lovely shops, restaurants and pubs. Upon arrival, we were pleased that the cottage was very clean and tidy. There was also tea coffee and milk so we could have a nice cuppa on arrival! The cottage is very well equipped and has everything you could ever need when cooking etc. They also had an “honesty” wine rack which was a nice touch, which enabled us to have a glass of wine on the first night and replace later. Bedrooms were clean and fresh with plenty of space and storage. The property is within a small hamlet so we bumped into a few of them and everyone was very friendly and stopped for a chat. There is a couple of pubs about 30min walk away which serve good food and also you can walk about 30-45 minutes up a steep hill to “pots and pans plot” which has a war memorial and large boulders and an amazing view. All in all, an excellent cottage which we very much enjoyed staying in and discovering the peak district from.

Trip Advisor August 2018

We loved our stay in the cottage; it’s clean, well appointed and has all you need. Close to Uppermill but located in a quiet setting. Book now to avoid disappointment!

Trip Advisor August 2018

Beautiful area, the cottage is furnished to a high level, well equipped, has everything a family requires in a home from home. Very quiet location, not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties or wheelchair user as the pathways are not surfaced evenly, cobbled, this is not a criticism its typical of the area & location, stunning garden, well maintained. The cottage sleeps 4 adults comfortably, 2 bathrooms, one ensuite, large kitchen dining area and a cosy lounge with open fire We will be returning very soon.

Trip Advisor August 2018

De cottage is heel erg sfeervol en voorzien van alle gemakken. Cliff was een perfecte host met goede instructies en snelle communicatie. The cottage felt very welcoming and the bedrooms were very comfortable Everything you needed for a wonderful stay was in the cottage. The surrounding area is full of history and the walks are suitable for everyone from walking the moors to more leisurely along the canal. All in all a great stay.

Trip Advisor May 2018

This property is even better when you see it in person, the pictures of the property just don’t do it justice as the place is perfect in every way possible. The location for visiting the local area is second to none but what makes this even better is all of the information that is sent to you by the owner before you go to the property. Everyone in the immediate vicinity of the property are really friendly and very helpful and once again this makes your stay even more delightful. If you want a restful and relaxing break then I can certainly recommend Pots and Pans cottage, you will leave this property a totally different person (RELAXED) I would like to say a big thank you to Cliff not only for having such a property and letting me use it whilst I was away on business, I would also like to say thank you for providing us with all of the information which made our stay one we’ll remember for a very long time.

This is a very special place. A genuine cozy cottage with all modern amenities. The beds are really comfortable and the linens are lovely. They have wonderful Asian and African artwork throughout which adds a unique and warm aesthetic. There is a sweet deck and garden to enjoy the outdoors. We had an amazing time at this house. Its a short walk to the village which has plenty of nightlife with some little shops and cafes. We were fortunate to catch the crafts market at the civic hall. We also walked on nearby footpaths and enjoyed the lovely views. The host Cliff was great too. Very responsive and genuinely helpful. I would highly recommend this place. Hope to be back next year!

We have just returned from a weekend stay here. The cottage is in a lovely secluded location in the bustling village of Uppermill. The cottage caters perfectly for families with young children. We have a baby and 3 year old and we loved the toys, DVD’s, and equipment for our little ones. A perfect place to relax and enjoy the countryside.

A beautiful little cottage, very clean and welcoming. We were delighted to find tea and coffee in the jars and a pint of milk in the fridge! The kitchen was incredibly well equipped with everything we needed plus more. The living room was very cosy with lots of comfy chairs and extra blankets. Beds were all very comfortable, bathroom facilities were great. We had our dog with us who loved the fire in the lounge, the floors downstairs are all hard floors (rugs in the lounge) which meant for easy cleaning after muddy walkies, the garden isn’t fenced off so we had to pop him on a lead to go out but that wasn’t a problem. The only little niggle we had was that we couldn’t work out the heating, which was probably our own fault but the lovely wood burning stove kept us nice and warm instead so not really a problem. The pre-arrival communication with Cliff was great, a personalised welcome sheet was emailed out a few days before with all the info we needed. On the day of our departure, he emailed again to make sure everything had gone okay which was a really nice touch. We would love to stay again if we are ever in the area!

Had a wonderful time at Pots and Pans Cottage Uppermill. Lovely cosy warm cottage. Fully equipped with everything. Great cooker and utensils. Lovely walks in the area. Great location for exploring West Yorkshire and the Peak District. Also convenient for visiting Manchester. Highly Recommended.

A wonderful place! Uppermill is a lively little town with great cafes and restaurants. How good they are is also shown by the fact that they are already fully booked on Saturdays – by locals! So reserve … And Cliffs House is the perfect place to explore Uppermill and the beautiful scenery. Very comfortable and tastefully the living room, as made for a cup of tea in front of the fireplace after a hike that can start just behind the house. My sons – 15 and 17 – liked it a lot – we’ll be back!

The house was pristinely clean and nice and warm. Everything worked perfectly and we couldn’t fault it.

My Husband and I enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cottage. It was a pleasure to stay in with lovely rooms. We dined in one night as we loved staying inside as it felt so cosy and homely. The location is great too as it isn’t far from Uppermill village and the hills are around the back. We got a nice canal walk and a walk up to the nice pub The church Inn while we were there and it was nice to get back to the cottage after. Definitely coming back.

What a lovely, picturesque escape! We were here for work in Manchester and wanted to stay out of the city with weekend walking potential and that’s precisely what we got! An easy 12 miles from Manchester (35 mins drive on a good run). Great views from the cottage, lots of long wintry walks and easy access to Uppermill. Getting snowed in during “the beast from the east” was challenging but what a lovely place to be stuck. One of the neighbours shovelled and gritted up to our front door very thoughtfully!! All in all, cliff and his local friend have been so helpful and easy to get hold of when needed throughout our months stay. We hope he will have us back in the summer so we can do it all again in the sun! Thanks Cliff and family!

We have had a wonderful stay at Pots & Pans Cottage. A lovely cosy, stylish space – the pictures on Airbnb do not do it justice. Beautifully decorated throughout, wood burning stove, piping hot shower, well-equipped kitchen….you get the picture. Cliff sent us loads of useful info, and despite being out of the country at the time, responded quickly to any communication. Highly recommended

We stayed at the cottage before Christmas with our two kids. It’s very cosy, we sat in front of the stove every night in the sitting room. The kitchen is really nice too. Great location, you can get to Uppermill in a few minutes walk where we had lunch/dinner most days. Overall a great stay, highly recommended. The owners couldn’t have been more helpful.

This is a lovely and welcoming cottage, relaxing to be in, with a cosy sitting room, and excellently equipped kitchen (a joy to cook on the range cooker). The king size bed has a comfortable memory foam mattress, and there are tranquil views of the trees, and the squirrels, to wake up to. The cottage is tucked away on the edge of Uppermill but it’s only a few minutes walk to a whole range of small independent shops, not to mention a good Co-Op which is open every day till late. Good bread at Oliviccio and the Wine Vault (Saturdays). Our favourite cups of coffee were at the Lime Kiln café on the canal by Brownhill Nature Reserve, Station Brew in Greenfield, and at Wooly Knit a mile along the canal in Diggle. It is a lovely area for walking, footpaths everywhere. There is the canal and old railway line if you want flat. If you want up, walk directly from the cottage onto Pots and Pans and the Oldham Way. Or for a grand day out – to Dovestones reservoir, up to Chew Reservoir then along the ridge via Foxstone and Trinnacle back down via Greenfield and Yeoman Hey reservoirs. Whilst we were at the cottage it snowed: we and the dog warmed up quickly after icy walks, snug around the stove in the sitting room. Also crucial: our wet boots and jackets dried quickly!

Great place to stay. The cottage is full of old world charm but with all the modern facilities. Very comfortable and cosy. Lovely kitchen with all the equipment you need. It’s a few minutes walk to Uppermill a small town with all the amenities you could want, some good restaurants and even somewhere you can while away a wet afternoon painting a pot. The area is full of beautiful scenery so lots of good walking. We had a great time and would thoroughly recommend it.

  1. Fabulous cottage. Highly recommended. Cliff was great to deal with and very accommodating. Lovely location. Five mins from the village. Fully equipped. Full of character. Very clean. Try grandpa greens, lime kiln cafe, weaver & wilde, saints, kobe, waggon inn, sorello and definitely muse. Poor service at abaco. Thankyou cliff & team.
